Anatomy and Physiology Review for NMT

This course is designed to provide the medical imaging professional with a comprehensive review of cardiac anatomy and physiology, and electrophysiology. The content begins with a discussion of the location and function of cardiac structures; explores arterial distribution and the cardiac cycle; and presents an overview of causes, symptoms, and treatment strategies for coronary artery disease; valvular diseases; congenital anomalies; and nonischemic cardiomyopathies.
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to
* describe the anatomical structures and functions of the heart;
* identify the main coronary arteries, their location, and function;
* identify the key factors related to coronary artery disease including causes, symptoms, and treatment;
* describe the steps in the cardiac cycle;
* identify valvular diseases: causes, symptoms, treatment, and their impact on the heart;
* identify several congenital cardiac anomalies; and
* define cardiomyopathies and give information related to symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment for the three main types of nonischemic cardiomyopathy.
